The special appeal of driven hunts

Cries of “boooaar” resonate through the forest. Adrenalin surges through the body. This calls for absolute concentration, there’s no room for error. The boar suddenly emerges from the thicket. The first shots are fired. Time for a few deep breaths. But crashing sounds in the underbrush and the barking of the dogs are already heralding the arrival of the next animals. The tension subsides only when the hunting horn signals that the hunt is over, and all dogs are back safely.

Driven hunts are an absolute highlight for many hunters. The exceptional challenge partially explains the enduring fascination over centuries, but above all it’s the shared adventure that makes driven hunts such a special experience. Success is only possible if all participants – drivers, shooters, and dog handlers – work together and bring all their senses to bear.
