Self-timer or remote control mode

Rule number one: avoid any unnecessary movement. Even the pressure of your finger on the shutter release button can often be enough to make your camera shake.

Example: Canon EOS 7D with TLS APO and remote control

A self-timer is ideal for overcoming this problem. There are two options available: you can use either the camera’s integrated self-timer or a remote control (which is not available for all cameras). The first option comes with the actual camera, while the second option enables you to trigger the shutter release without having to touch the camera. However, there are increasingly fewer camera models on the market with an electronic (remote control) or mechanical (cable) remote shutter release. Some models already offer Wi-fi connectivity and can trigger the photo by means of an app.
