With its angled view, the ATX spotting scope system helps you to comfortably seek out your target. It also makes long-range observation significantly easier, especially when your subject is located in the sky, in a tree, or on a hill.
Objective lens diameterThe objective lens diameter specifies how much light can enter the optics. This makes it a key factor in an instrument’s performance, for example, in twilight. The bigger the objective lens diameter, the more light the objective lens can capture. The darker the surroundings, the larger the objective lens diameter needs to be. Check the precise product name as the number after the ‘x’ specifies the objective lens diameter in millimeters. For example, a device with the suffix 10x42 has an objective lens with a diameter of 42 mm.

Variable magnification Variable magnification makes it possible to adjust the magnification flexibly within a specific range. In contrast to fixed magnification, it allows you to zoom from the lower value to the higher value. However, as the magnification increases, the field of view, i.e. the image section, becomes smaller. Check the precise product name as the number in front of the ‘x’ specifies the magnification. For example, 30-70x95 is a device with a variable magnification from 30x to 70x.
Field of viewThe field of view describes the size of the image section that can be seen through the optics. This is specified either in meters (width) at a distance of 1000 meters (m/1000m), or feet (width) at a distance of 1000 yards (ft/1000 yds), or as an angle (degrees). The higher the magnification, the smaller the field of view.
Binoculars have a large field of view, which means you can see a wide area. Spotting scopes have a higher magnification, which makes the field of view much smaller, but you can see more detail.
Weight The weight specifies how heavy or light the device is (in grams or ounces). Do you intend to do a lot of walking? Lightweight equipment is a priority in this case.

My father taught me to recognize birds when I was a child, and he used a Swarovski binocular that he later gave to me. Since that day, I’ve always used products from this brand—I consider it "part of the family." I used to use them as a hobby, now for work. Since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by animals and the environments they live in. I’ve always been interested in birds, and eventually, it became my job. I study birds in the Venice Lagoon and the Po Delta. I’m fascinated by their migrations. I collect data on ringed birds, and thanks to the ATX, I read over 400 rings a year.

To identify birds, I need as many plumage details as I can get. Especially when it comes to subtle differences, I truly appreciate the crystal-clear image of my NL Pure binoculars and my ATX spotting scope. The only downside? When I get an ID wrong, I can't blame it on poor optics—because SWAROVSKI’s quality is simply unmatched.
Waking up before sunrise, climbing 800 meters in elevation, and waiting for hours in freezing cold just to catch a glimpse of a little brown bird—most people wouldn’t call that appealing. But for me, that’s happiness. The pure joy of observing nature draws me outside and gives me that unique sense of discovery, which I also love to share on social media as @Naturgucker_Tom.
Um Vögel zu bestimmen, brauche ich so viele Gefiederdetails, wie ich kriegen kann. Gerade wenn es um feine Nuancen geht, schätze ich das kristallklare Bild meines NL Pure Fernglases und meines ATX Spektivs. Einziger Nachteil: Wenn ich mal wieder bei der Bestimmung daneben liege, kann ich es nicht auf eine schlechte Optik schieben. Die ist nämlich bei SWAROVSKI unübertroffen.
Vor Sonnenaufgang aufstehen, dann 800 Höhenmeter bergauf, um bei Eiseskälte stundenlang auf einen kleinen braunen Vogel zu hoffen. Das klingt für viele wohl nicht gerade verlockend, aber genau das macht mich glücklich. Die pure Freude an der Beobachtung zieht mich in die Natur und gibt mir dieses einzigartige Entdecker-Lebensgefühl, von dem ich als @Naturgucker_Tom auch gern auf Social Media erzähle.

I find both products perfect also for limited light conditions as they allow me to see more in every situation without interfering with birds.
Being in the wilderness allows me to recharge and to give a different meaning of life. Observing the endurance and the resilience of living things gives me a completely different perspective of my struggles. I really care about wilderness, and I strongly believe human beings have a great responsibility to protect and respect it as we are just a little fragment of it.
