ATC 17-40x56

Small dimensions, outstanding optics: Thanks to its length of 258 mm (10.2 in), the ATC spotting scope with angled view will fit in any backpack. A weight of just 970 g (34.2 oz) makes it a top choice for tours in rough terrain and remote areas. The clever half shell makes it easier to position on a surface without a tripod and allows unimpeded turning of the focusing and zoom wheel at all times. In combination with the VPA 2, the ATC is ideal for digiscoping. The carrying strap adds the perfect finishing touch.

What to consider when choosing your spotting scope

Objective lens diameter

The objective lens diameter specifies how much light can enter the optics. This makes it a key factor in an instrument’s performance, for example, in twilight. The bigger the objective lens diameter, the more light the objective lens can capture. The darker the surroundings, the larger the objective lens diameter needs to be. Check the precise product name as the number after the ‘x’ specifies the objective lens diameter in millimeters. For example, a device with the suffix 10x42 has an objective lens with a diameter of 42 mm.

Scope arrived without the necessary screw to attach the half shell. The book shows and states an o ring is needed, email sent requesting o ring. After lengthy phone call with supplier in Horley, the necessary screw was supplied. Considering the cost of the scope and the Swarovski name, it was disappointing to receive a "faulty" product. We have brought other binoculars and scope from Swarovski and have always been happy. Thanks to Peter and wahida for their help, our faith in the company has been restored.

Very good optical quality. Unfortunately the tripod interface is defective. I contacted Svarowsky, they say in the future a solution will be available.

Handy and lightweight. Good picture. Easy to carry in a backpack. Carbon tripod is perfect

The optics are fabulous The lack of a hole for a pin on the foot means the telescope tends to become loose on tripod. This is a serious design fault.
