DIGISCOPER OF THE YEAR 2010

SWAROVSKI OPTIK is delighted to announce the winner of "Digiscoper of the Year 2010". Mr Óscar J. Gonzáles Hermández from Spain was the ultimate winner, selected by an international jury combined with a public vote.
The natural world contains a wealth of unique and fascinating animals and beautiful landscapes waiting to be discovered. However, the challenge lies in capturing these images. For this purpose, SWAROVSKI OPTIK has developed special photographic equipment designed for use with various types of camera and SWAROVSKI OPTIK telescopes and binoculars. With the help of these functional connecting elements, camera and telescope or binoculars become a flexible unit perfect for capturing extraordinary moments.

Digiscoper of the Year 2010
Digiscoping allows nature lovers to take high quality close-up shots of various species, capturing lasting images of those unique moments. Just under 2,000 pictures were submitted for the 2010 competition, once again exceeding the large number of entries in previous years. However, what most impressed the judges was the exceptional quality of the digiscoping photographs submitted rather than the volume.

This year's winner of SWAROVSKI OPTIK's annual international photography competition and proud holder of the prestigious title "Digiscoper of the Year 2010" is Mr Óscar J. Gonzáles Hermández from Spain. He wins a complete SWAROVSKI OPTIK digiscoping kit comprising a magnesium telescope, wide-angle zoom eyepiece 25-50x W, telescope rail, camera adapter and carbon tripod CT 101 including tripod head DH 101. Second place was awarded to Mr Mario Cea Sánchez from Spain, who wins a pair of EL 42 SWAROVISION binoculars. Juan Manuel Benjumea Fantoni from the USA came third in the competition and wins a pair of EL 32 binoculars.

"Digiscoper of the Year" was selected by an international jury in combination with the star ratings awarded for the images by registered users of the website. The jury's selection criteria included the relevance of the subject matter, the aesthetic aspects of the photographs and the sharpness of the image. SWAROVSKI OPTIK has published the 20 best digiscoping images that were submitted on the website www.digiscoperoftheyear.com. The photographers also receive a publication fee of €300 and their names are shown alongside their work.

SWAROVSKI OPTIK would like to congratulate all winners.
