EL Traveler

Absam / Tyrol, March 2009: The Swarovski Optik “EL Traveler” travel binoculars celebrated their European première on 12 March at the ITB in Berlin.

Whether on safari or city tour, Camino de Santiago or the Amazon: every journey is an adventure. New impressions, conversations, aromas, glances and views, another world reveals itself to those who are ready for it. To all who open up their senses and who have an eye for detail. For it is specifically the finer points and details which make the moment unique and turn the journey into an unforgettable experience, which is when high-quality binoculars are essential. Perfectly focused, precise and in diamond-bright, lifelike colours, even in poor visibility conditions or at dusk, they provide glimpses which would otherwise remain hidden for ever. They assist the eye and extend the viewing range. Discreetly and with sophistication.

The EL 32 Traveler is a reliable companion for every journey. It is not only the optical precision of the EL 32 TRAVELER but also its design and its workmanship which outclass the competition. Anyone who has had the opportunity to hold and look through these lightweight and yet extremely rugged binoculars will confirm their uniqueness. A magnesium housing, tested under extreme conditions in the desert, the Arctic or the rainforest; fine aluminium and classic colours account for its timeless beauty.

Swarovski Optik is a Tyrolean company in the heart of the Alps and is part of the Swarovski Crystal Group. The company will be 60 this year and still manufactures exclusively from the same site in Absam, Austria.

A lasting company that makes lasting products. Skilled professionals make and assemble precision-mechanical and precision-optical parts partly by machine and partly by hand under the strictest conditions and with the utmost care and a long-time experience.

The result is the best binoculars and telescopes in the world. Originally, the long-range optics were devised for hunters all over the world until, in the 1990s, Swarovski Optik was introduced to the birdwatching market However from 2009 and with the help of the EL Traveler, Swarovski Optik has turned its attention to the “Travel and Leisure” segment, because the company has identified people within this target group who embark on expeditions, adventure holidays, nature observation trips and cultural outings and do not wish to miss an opportunity to bring the splendour of an unforgettable moments closer.

Swarovski Optik would not be known as leaders of innovation if the EL Traveler did not have a special feature: the Snap Shot Adapter - a small accessory which creates the link between a digital compact camera and the binocular. It can be used to capture distant subjects that are too far away for the camera. With the shap shot adapter linked to the binocular it is possible achieve amazing focal lengths and capture distant subjects that are too far away for the camera alone. Stunning photographs can be taken with only a little practice.

“Objects of desire are often very different”, says Hermann Frecher, Vice President New Markets at Swarovski Optik, and continues, “Depending on the trip and the observer’s interests, it is possible to identify the tiny bird on the back of a rhinoceros, to make out a whimsical gargoyle on the roof of St. Vitus cathedral or to observe the glistening skin of a frog catching the last of the day’s sunlight. It is essential to enjoy precious moments and to reveal what it hidden.”
